Happy 125th to The Minnesota Daily

Today marks the 125th anniversary of The Minnesota Daily. This student-led organization has been the constant source of news covering social, political, and cultural events that have impacted the campus community through various modes and formats. Take a moment to learn more about their history, by reviewing the online archival collection guide, Ariel and The Minnesota Daily Student Newspaper and Magazine collection, their digital collection on the University Digital Conservancy, which hosts the digital issues from 1900 through 2009, as well as their archived podcast episodes, and other administrative records and publications.

In the Fall of 2025, University Archives will be featuring the exhibit, Beyond the Page: Preserving the Spirit of the University Through An Independent Student Press, highlighting accounts from the Daily’s history over the course of its 125 years on the 2nd and 3rd floor of Elmer L. Andersen Library. Stay tuned for more details in the coming months!

In the meantime, enjoy the following covers of past anniversary issues, created, published and distributed by the Daily staff in the last 125 years! Links to the digital issues are included in the captions.
