Blind Date With a Book is back in February 2026

Do you like a bit of a mystery? romance? thrill? Want to read a fun book?

Visit participating University of Minnesota libraries -including Walter, Wilson, Health Sciences, Magrath and more this Valentine’s Day (February 10 until they last) and find the display of books. Read the descriptions, admire the art and select a book wrapped up just for you. Check the book out with your U Card, take it home, unwrap and fall in love. We check out hundreds of books to Gophers who are looking for something new to read.Blind date with a book display in Walter Library.

Each of the books includes a hint to help guide your connection, but the true identity of your match won’t be revealed until you open it. Share your blind date on Instagram and tag @umnlib for a chance to win a U of M Libraries t-shirt!

  • Pilates at Wilson Library Study Break on Thur Feb 12
    Need a relaxing study break? In collaboration with RecWellWilson Library on west bank is hosting mat pilates on Thursday, February 12 from 1:45-2:15 on the first floor of Wilson Library. This class is great for beginners and those seeking the mental benefits of exercise. All fitness levels are welcome.
  • Friday Finish at Walter Library- Valentine’s day crafting on Fri Feb 13
    Need to get caught up from the busy week? Need motivation to turn your Friday afternoon into a key part of your homework routine? Want to make the sunday scaries be less scary? Come to Walter Library on Friday Feb 13 anytime from 1:30-4 for a relaxed yet productive study time at the Friday Finish.
  • Love Data Week – Feb 9-13, 2026
    Join a variety of events for the annual international celebration of Love Data Week. The 2026 theme of “Where’s the Data?” encourages thinking and conversation about the journey of data, from collection through storage and preservation. Events include workshop like:

    • Where’s the Data?: Data Discovery & Reuse of Datasets
    • Data everywhere and for everyone: Intro to data physicalization in the Health Sciences Library – HSEC 5-101 – Makerspace.
    • StoryMaps: Visual Storytelling with Maps and more
