In this special storytelling event on Thursday, May 29, we travel 100 years back to trace the long and under-explored history that brought us to that moment in 2020 when George Floyd’s death at the hands of police sparked a global racial reckoning. We’ll focus on Harry and Clementine Robinson, whose lives in Minneapolis offer a haunting and poignant reflection of the broader American experience that reveals resilience, resistance and the generational cost of racial injustice.
The Robinsons, who are at the heart of the Minnesota Star Tribune’s podcast “Ghost of a Chance,” help us deepen our understanding of how we got to where we are today, challenge us to confront the uncomfortable past, and help us think about our choices for the future.
From the Robinsons to Floyd is hosted in collaboration with the Minnesota Star Tribune and Mapping Prejudice at the University of Minnesota Libraries.
