ONLINE: Research metrics: what they are and when (and when not) to use them

April 30 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

Free
Three students clustered around open laptop

Have you heard about impact factors, h-indexes, or other metrics used to describe a researcher’s work? Do you know what these numbers actually mean? This workshop will explain journal-level and author-level metrics and discuss what they can — and can’t say — about the quality of research.

This session is part of our Nuts & Bolts of Academic Publishing series. These are aimed at students who are at any stage of their graduate program and are looking for more information on all stages of the publishing process. This series focuses on publishing in journals.
