What do you do?

My name is JJ Barry, and I am currently a senior attending the University full time. I also work as a Peer-Research Consultant at Walter Library. My hobbies are working out at the Rec Center, finding new and interesting shows to watch on Netflix, and spending time with family and friends.

What tools/software/hardware/etc do you use to do your work?

I use Google Docs to do everything. I write and save all my papers on there. I use Moodle to check up and send my assigned homework. I use the UMN email all the time to communicate with professors and my boss.

What do you use that you love? What do you use that you wish worked better?

Moos Tower

Moos Tower

I use Five Star notebooks because I am a hands-on learner. I cannot learn or do anything if I take notes on my laptop. I only use pens when I write because I cannot clearly see my handwriting if I use a pencil. I also like to use highlighters.

I feel like Moos Tower as a study space would work better if there was more access to rooms. I love to study there but sometimes find it hard to find a space. Moos Tower is on the East Bank where the Pharmacy/Dentistry School and Nursing School is located and that is where I usually find a room to study in but it’s usually hard because it’s very popular and many students go there to study. There are some rooms but there is an access code needed to open them.

Note from the librarian

Carolyn Bishoff

There are so many great study spaces on campus. If you also like to study at Moos but are tired of fighting the crowds, hop next door and visit the brand new study spaces at the Bio-Medical Library in Diehl Hall.
