Sarah Jane Brown, MSc, began her work as a Clinical Information Librarian at the Bio-Medical Library this August. In her role, Brown will work closely with librarians Caitlin Bakker and Connie Bongiorno as liaisons to the Medical School.
Brown received her bachelor’s degree in Anthropology from the University of Minnesota. Since that time, she has traveled the world, teaching English in South Korea, interning at the Edinburgh City Libraries in Scotland, and completing her library degree at the University of Strathclyde in the United Kingdom. Her graduate research project investigated the information seeking behaviors of young people ages 13-18.
Brown’s resume also includes experience at Medtronic, St. Mary’s University, and the National Academy of Sciences where she provided support for a large-scale scientific study on emerging diseases.
As a Clinical Information Librarian, Brown will support the patient care, clinical research, and educational needs of the Medical School.
You might see her around the library, joining patient rounds, in the classroom, or at morning report. If you do, feel free to ask her about her love of biking, cooking, and reading. She would also be happy to share stories of her dog, Tommy.
We are very happy to have Sarah back at the University of Minnesota. Please join us in giving her a warm welcome.
