2018 marks the 90th anniversary of the University of Minnesota Archives, giving us a prime opportunity to highlight what we have and what we do. We decided to anchor our 90th-anniversary story with an exhibit “Gone into History.”
The exhibit ended its run in Andersen Library on April 27, but we didn’t want “Gone into History” to…well…go into history. With compliments to designer Darren Terpstra and University Archivist Erik Moore, the exhibit panels and posters were adapted to a digital environment – the University Digital Conservancy.
Please explore the online exhibit by diving into an entire section examining the role of academic freedom and tenure at the University or the University’s response to the massive influx of students following World War II. Or spend some time with a panel or two.
During the coming months, From the University Archivist will feature select stories from “Gone into History” ensuring that even though people and events that are a part of the University of Minnesota may have gone into history they are not lost.
