The Theorem of the Vector are your 2019 Science Quiz Bowl champions!
On Sunday, April 7, 32 teams competed for the right to call themselves the Science Quiz Bowl Champions. Teams like, You’re a Quizard Harry, Ketchup Ice Cream, and The Grinch and His Lobsterfest, matched knowledge and quizzing skills for prize money, tiny dinosaurs, and Milano cookies.
At the end of the day — 62 matches later — only two teams remained: The Theorem of the Vector of the Heighest Weight (Ryan Kmet, Josh Jyring, Kenrick Bjelland, and Beren Gunsolus) and The Fighting Calculators (Jane Wang, Cody Hou, Saumik Narayanan, Kyle Korkko).
After facing questions on everything from the chemical composition of Mountain Dew to popular TV shows, The Theorem of the Vector proved to be true, with an undefeated day.
Taking second place was The Fighting Calculators — Jane Wang, Cody Hou, Saumik Narayanan, Kyle Korkko — hanging out here with some friends.
This friendly double-elimination tournament kicked off CSE Week 2019, featuring 130 students from CSE and other colleges. Players answered questions in all areas of science, with some pop culture and general knowledge questions thrown in for fun.
The annual Science Quiz Bowl is hosted by the University Libraries, with support from the College of Science & Engineering.
