Annie Hoffman here, Student Journalist for the Libraries. Here’s what I’ve been up to this week!

I am a company member with One Dance, a contemporary dance company based in Minneapolis. We have been holding outdoor, socially distanced rehearsals. This week we opened with a book swap, where we shared books that have moved us. I brought along Stray City, a novel that I read in a GLBT literature course last fall. Stray City centers around the lesbian community in 1990s Portland.

I tried making cheese! The recipe I used is very simple and produces a mild cheese that tasted great crumbled on pasta.

Finally, I have been volunteering regularly at the YWCA in Minneapolis. The site serves as a distribution hub to ensure that community members have groceries, personal hygiene supplies, and other items. Visit the YWCA website to sign up to volunteer or pick up supplies.

As summer comes to an end, I am keeping my eyes open for new recipes and new ways to get involved in my community.
