New Wiley agreement for open access publishing

By February 15, 2023September 16th, 2023No Comments

Open Access logoOpen access publishing is now free for University of Minnesota authors when they publish in Wiley journals.

As part of a multi-year (2023-2025) negotiated agreement between the Big Ten Academic Alliance and Wiley, Article Processing Charges will be waived for responsible corresponding authors (lead authors) from the University of Minnesota campuses of the Twin Cities, Rochester, Duluth, and Morris.

This latest agreement covers both hybrid open access (Wiley’s Online Open journals) and fully open access journals—both Wiley Gold journals and Hindawi titles.

How it will work

For Online Open journals, authors can “select OA” for articles accepted between Jan. 1, 2023 and Dec. 31, 2025.

For fully OA journals, authors will have the option to “request funding” for articles submitted between Jan. 1, 2023 and Dec. 31, 2025.

To ensure that your affiliation with the University of Minnesota is correctly identified, please use your @umn.edu email address. For fully OA journals, authors must select University of Minnesota when presented with the choice of Wiley Open Access Account Codes.

The University Libraries support for Open Access

The Libraries supports open access (OA) publishing because it makes research freely available to readers around the world.

There are many ways to make your scholarly work openly accessible — see all of the options available to you.

In addition to this Wiley agreement, the Libraries is participating in a number of other agreements negotiated through the Big Ten Academic Alliance (BTAA), which waive article processing charges (APCs).
