UMN Libraries: Name a Library Cart Contest 2024

The votes are in!

We are pleased to announce the winner of the first annual UMN Libraries Book cart naming contest is…

Dolly Carton book cart.

Thank you to the more than 750+ people who voted on our list of book cart name finalists. This name is even more meaningful with the connection to Dolly Parton and her impactful work with reading, libraries and literacy including the Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.

Honorable mentions:

  • Wówapi (this is the word for book in Lakota)
  • Carti B
  • Babe the Blue Cart
  • Total Eclipse of the Cart (we see you April 8)

Forget March Madness, voting is now open on the 2024 UMN Libraries “Name a Library cart” contest! From more than 200 submissions, we have narrowed the field to 18 names. Simply, select your favorites! The name that gets the most votes will make its way onto a book cart! Voting closes at noon on Friday, March 22, 2024 and the winner will be announced on Tuesday, March 26. And for book’s sake, don’t forget to vote!
