A pilot program for fun reading is now available at Wilson Library, in collaboration with University Book Club

Book club kits are located behind the circulation desk at Wilson Library and are ready for check out.
Want to discuss the books you read with friends? Need an accountability buddy to help put a dent in your “to be read” list? The Libraries have got you covered!
The Libraries are pleased to announce a brand new collection of book club kits available for check out from Wilson Library. Created in partnership with the University Book Club, these kits are designed to give you everything you need to host a book club discussion of your own. We have buddy read kits designed for two people to read together, and book club kits designed for up to six people. These kits can be checked out for 4 weeks at a time and cannot be reserved online. The kits are more than just books–they also come with discussion questions, instructions on how to reserve a space, and more. The kits are available for check out to all students, staff and faculty.

The titles have been selected by members of the University Book Club, who gathered recommendations from fellow student organizations to build a collection that includes a wide variety of genres and voices. UBC prioritized titles they believed would reflect and resonate with the University of Minnesota’s diverse and creative campus community.
“Our mission is to foster a positive, inclusive community around books and literature on campus. We hope the brand-new book kits will provide opportunities for connection among students, staff and faculty. There’s nothing more powerful than sharing stories,” says the University Book Club president, Emily Teigland.

The book club kits were generously funded by a Libraries Strategic Initiative Award.
