Changes are coming to the delivery options this fall. We have a long history of moving books and materials across the campus and even across the state and beyond to make it more convenient for students and researchers. During the pandemic in 2020 — when the physical libraries were closed we launched a program which allowed users to request materials to be sent to their homes. It was a new way to help students, faculty and staff access the materials during a unprecedented time.
This option was being used less and in late August the home delivery service ended for most users. Students, faculty and staff can continue to use the “Get It” service to have materials delivered to your choice of campus library location – like Walter or Wilson or any of our branch libraries. Faculty and staff continue to have the option for office delivery.
A small number of users will still have an option to have materials shipped to off-campus addresses:
- Users outside of the seven-county Twin Cities metro area comprising Anoka, Carver, Dakota, Hennepin, Ramsey, Scott, and Washington counties. This includes delivery to users affiliated with U of M Extension, Hormel Institute, Itasca Biological Station, and CentraCare Regional Campus in St. Cloud who reside outside this area should now request materials using the InterLibrary form.
- Any users registered with the Disability Resource Center. If possible, users should add a note in the notes field of the form to ensure their delivery is processed correctly.
Note: Off-campus delivery is free of charge, but users are responsible for return shipping costs.
Digital Delivery is available
Users can use the Interlibrary Loan form to request digital delivery of items in our collections. We will scan a small portion, article or chapter from print material, microfilm and fiche. Learn more about this service.
