Register NowHenry was a beloved and best-selling children’s author who wrote adventure stories that featured horses and other animals. She won the Newbery Medal for “King of the Wind,” a 1948 book about horses, and she was a runner-up for two others. “Misty of Chincoteague” (1947) is one of the most popular children’s books of all time.
In doing research for her book, Teague relied heavily on Henry’s archival materials, which are held in the University of Minnesota Libraries’ Kerlan Collection for Children’s Literature. Following a reading from her book, Teague will be joined by Lisa Von Drasek for a discussion and audience Q&A. Von Drasek is the Miranker Family Curatorial Chair of the Kerlan Collection.
Lettie Teague has been The Wall Street Journal’s wine columnist since 2010, covering the world of wine from Argentina to Washington state and all the wine countries, regions and winemakers in between.
Before joining the Journal in 2010, Lettie was the executive wine editor and columnist for Food & Wine magazine. She is the author of three books: “Dear Readers and Riders: The Beloved Books, Faithful Fans, and Hidden Private Life of Marguerite Henry,” “Wine in Words,” and “Educating Peter.” She co-authored and illustrated “Fear of Wine.”
Lisa Von Drasek is the Miranker Family Curatorial Chair of the Kerlan Collection of Children’s Literature — an internationally recognized resource in the field of children’s literature. The Kerlan is available to researchers, educators, families, and all who love children’s literature. Anyone can make an appointment to view its materials.
