Author S. Barbara Hilyer

Please join us for a special lunch-hour discussion of the recently published book “Legacy Lost: Passing Across the Color Line.” The author, S. Barbara Hilyer, is a descendant of Andrew Franklin Hilyer, the first African American graduate of the University of Minnesota and the first of three generations of University of Minnesota graduates. While the Hilyers once had deep connections to famous mill town families like the Pillsburys and Gales, they would eventually leave the Twin Cities and part with their African American heritage. Until now.

The book talk will be followed by a panel discussion featuring S. Barbara Hilyer with Dr. John S. Wright, Professor Emeritus of African American and African Studies, and Erik Moore, University Archivist.

Please register if you plan to attend.
