Join us for an evening at the Wangensteen Historical Library on Thursday, November 14th from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. to celebrate Artist-in-Residence Professor Jenny Schmid’s exhibition: Disembodied Reembodied. Disembodied Reembodied addresses medical depictions of women’s bodies in the library collection and will also feature take-home zines and interactive online content. Disembodied Reembodied is a collaborative project between Schmid, Wangensteen Historical Library of Biology & Medicine curators Emily Beck and Lois Hendrickson, and Assistant Professor of Clinical Ethics Jaime Konerman-Sease.

This project is funded by the inaugural 2024 Research and Innovation Office (RIO) Artist-in-Residence Award that supports art and science collaboration. Disembodied/Reembodied is a collaboration between a bioethicist, an artist-printmaker, and two curators to question and reimagine the power of images that have greatly impacted female reproductive healthcare.
