“Holodomor: Minnesota Memories of Genocide in Ukraine” is a new documentary short that explores how traumatic memories of genocide are preserved and transmitted within families and communities, and across borders and generations. In researching her film, first-time director Zina Gutmanis accessed the Immigration History Research Center Archives’ (IHRCA) extensive collection of Ukrainian American materials for historical context, imagery and insight. What kinds of items does the collection – one of the largest in North America – contain? How did Zina approach her research and what did she find? Come to this interactive session and find out!
This event is free and open to all. Please register if you plan to attend.
