This is a workshop for anyone interested in learning how to both hand sew and operate a sewing machine, understand basic tools, properly set up your sewing space, and work with fabric. Join Toaster Ambassador Koveyia for a no experience needed workshop!
The Friday Finish at Walter Library is your time to get it done. Take time to relax, finish up work from the week, get a start on weekend homework or plan ahead for next week. All students are welcome. Study solo or bring a friend. Drop in to fast-track your finish with peer tutors for research, writing papers, MATH, CHEM, and more. We will have a creative study break each week like button making, bracelet making, and more or make something in the Toaster. Free snacks and treats. We will have fun reading books to read or check out.

In this workshop, we’ll demonstrate the basics of finishing a 3D print, including sanding, filling gaps, priming, painting, and basic weathering and texturing techniques. Participants will practice sanding with guided instruction to ensure a smooth finish—you are welcome to bring your own prints for sanding, or you may use a provided practice print.
In this workshop, we will demonstrate how to use Bodyswaps, a tool for UMN students, staff and faculty to practice job interview skills and other interpersonal skills. This can be a start of your self-paced journey to become more confident applying for jobs and internships! Bodyswaps uses virtual reality to place you in a realistic setting where you talk to an avatar, and it can give you feedback such as whether you're coming off too confident or not confident enough. It tracks your head movements and body posture to give you advice about non-verbal communication.
