Correspondence, letters, notes, messages, mail – there are many words for these materials that comprise the backbone of the archives. This year we will uplift the humble letters that pepper our collections. Join us on Oct. 6 for the first event in the 2023-24 First Fridays season, featuring presentations from the Performing Arts Archives and from the central processing unit at the Archives and Special Collections.
Please register to attend in person or online. ASL interpreters will be present for all First Fridays events.
Presented by Deborah Ultan, Curator, Performing Arts Archives
Legacy dance, theater, and music companies from the state of MN found their way through passionate personalities mixed with big dreams and a lot of drama! The letters of directors, visionaries, administrators, critics, students, and teachers from the Performing Arts Archives will be shared, revealing hair raising and stunning moments.
Presented by Rachel Weiher, Processing Archivist, and Jemma Kloss, Offsite Collections Archivist, Central Processing
Coming from our Central Processing staff, who get to work with all Archives and Special Collections units, this presentation will explore pivotal moments in archivists’ memories around correspondence and the social transmission and impact of these memories.
