End of semester Archives and Exhibits Tour in Andersen Library

Celebrate the end of the semester on Thursday, Dec 18 from 3:15-4:30 p.m. and learn about the unique archival collections in Andersen Library on the west bank. The University of Minnesota has rich collections of archives in collections including the history of the University to children’s literature to African American literature to immigration history and more – even Sherlock Holmes!

Take this opportunity to get an introduction to these collections, Andersen Library and more. We will start in Andersen Library atrium for an overview then explore our current exhibits on your own.

Join us on Wednesday, January 7 from 12 - 1:00 p.m. in the Toaster in the basement level of Walter Library. You can make bullet journaling work for New Year goals, semester planning, or yearly lists -- birthdays, holidays, reading, movies -- the sky is the limit.

Free, no experience necessary. We'll provide dot grid paper or you can bring your own journal! Register in advance.

ONLINE: Introduction to EndNote and EndNote Online

Learn about using the citation management software, EndNote, to import citations, customize your account, and format your bibliographies and in-text citations. EndNote is a powerful  tool that can help you save time, stay organized, and collaborate effectively as you write and publish research papers. 

We will discuss using EndNote in conjunction with EndNote Online, a web-based version of EndNote freely available to current University of Minnesota students, faculty, and staff. The workshop is open to all disciplines.

Join us at Wilson Library for a January Research/Write-In before the semester starts. Join with fellow graduate students and Gophers for a relaxed yet productive work time. Help start the semester right! 

Bring your research, projects, and writing and get stuff done. We will start with a short goal setting activity with structured work time and mini-study breaks. Librarians will be available for short consultations on finding sources, research workflows, getting published, data management and more. 

We will work in the first floor Collaboration Studio on Wednesday, January 14 from 2-4 p.m. We will have low study breaks with snacks and hot beverages including hot chocolate and tea!

ONLINE: Introduction to Zotero (collect, organize and cite PDFs)

Meet with fellow learners on Zoom and learn how to use Zotero to create your own database of citations, PDFs, images, webpages, video and audio files and more. Zotero can then be used to create citations in a large number of citation styles (APA, MLA, CSE, endnotes, footnotes, etc.) which can be added to Google Docs, Microsoft Word and Libre Office. Zotero is a free, easy-to-use tool to help you collect, organize, annotate, cite, and share research. The workshop is open to all disciplines.
