Intro to Media Assignment Development: In this session, instructors and technologists will explore and discuss possibilities for integrating a student-created media assignment into their curriculum. This hour-long active learning session will include an overview of real-world student-media assignment examples supported by Media Services and related campus media support services. Participants are invited to bring their student-created media project ideas! Session time will be one hour.

Year of Open Science 2023 webinar: Conversation about Open Science with Dr. Stephen J. Eglen

Join us for a conversation with Dr. Stephen J. Eglen, Professor of Computational Neuroscience at the University of Cambridge and co-PI of the CODECHECK project, and Associate University Librarians L. Angie Ohler and Jody Gray, as they discuss open science practices that researchers can adopt and  author rights retention strategies. Dr. Eglen is a member of the Cambridge Computational Biology Institute (CCBI) and a Fellow of Magdalene College and The Alan Turing Institute.

Join us to learn more about federal mandates around public access to articles and data, how agencies are responding, what this means for researchers here at the University of Minnesota, and how the University Libraries can support researchers who are required to make their research publicly accessible.

If you've ever wanted to learn about audio recording or podcasts, this is the workshop for you! Come learn about the different types of audio equipment you can use to record (including ones for free checkout at the U of M Libraries!) as well as methods for planning, preparing for, and editing your recordings. Staff will be on hand to answer questions, do small demos, and provide you with resources to use as you embark on your audio adventure. Podcasting 101 will be a hybrid workshop.

In this session, participants will learn about the fundamentals of the video production process, from planning to distribution. Topics covered will include storytelling, image and audio selection, media reuse, interviews, attribution, sharing your project, and campus support resources. Session time will be 30 minutes.

VR for Stress Reduction: Meditation

Every student experiences stress, and it's important to find your strategies for taking care of yourself. This is a part of a series of workshops on VR for Stress Reduction, this one being focused on meditation. In this workshop, we will use an app called Hoame to experience a guided meditation exercise, and you will learn how you can borrow a VR headset if you decide to make this part of your strategy.
